| | | Whats the earliest that baby frogs emerge Ditch cleaning on our allotments today revealed frogs, common newts and unbelievably crested newts (they have never been found there before). One of my colleagues insists that the frog tadpoles have already developed legs and left the water. Is this possible?
Cheers

| | | Re: Whats the earliest that baby frogs emerge Unlikely in East Yorkshire, their development is governed by the warmth and availability of food in their habitat. In general upland tadpoles take longer to develop than lowland ones. Bearing in mind most tadpoles in the area are still no where near this developed i seriously doubt it. |

| | | Re: Whats the earliest that baby frogs emerge Mine are very fat too but no sign of legs yet. The toad spawn has emerged! Im well chuffed. We found it on a small pier that someone had raked out of a large public pond.
Took it home and we have toadpoles now, Im amazed it survived! |

| | | Re: Whats the earliest that baby frogs emerge I cant compare to last year, its only this years pond. But thoroughly enjoying watching all the goings on.
We saw 2 flatworms as well today, I had to do a google to find out what they were. I have no idea how they got here are they ok to live in a small (1 1/2m x 2m) pond with the taddies? |

| | | Re: Whats the earliest that baby frogs emerge Flatworms are carnivorous but unlikely to have much affect on the tadpole population of your pond. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
