Newts

[Lincs Yellowbelly]

Now i'm really rubbish at Newt Id's I found a couple under a log at the weekend, they were around 10cm in lenght, a dark brown colour with Orange bellys with black spots

Any ideas

Sounds like Great Crested Newts at that size and colour. But could possibly smooth newts, can you get/did you get a photo?

GG newts are quite distinctive with a far more warty skin.... Once seen never forgotten shame they are so rare these days

I think they were the Common Newt looking at pictures
