| | injured toad I was out walking my dog when i saw a toad and one of its back legs has a huge gash right down to the bone and its skin was hangin off. So i picked it up and carried it home, it is now in a medium sized disused fish tank with a bit of pond water, some gravel and a big rock. What do they eat? Would i be better off putting it in the pond in my garden?

s: | They eat worms and slugs..Just throw them in and see if he takes them. I would keep him until the gash has had time to heal. So you can keep your eye on him. |

| | | Re: injured toad Thankyou for your advice i also think it may be pregnant as its belly is rather large and feels quite full, is there any way of knowing for sure if it is? Do they like any insects or just certain ones? it has a slug in with it. |

| | | Re: injured toad If it is pregnant I don't think it will be fertile. As the male needs to be there. They do eat insects not sure what though.
Others more knowledgeable will be along soon to give their help.. |

| | | Re: injured toad Feed the toad on slugs and worms these are easy to obtain and are nice large meals it can get alot of moisture from. They will eat insects although its not vital, if you find one through it into the toad. Regarding the gash, can it still walk? i would advise you try and dab it with a cotton bud dipped in salt water they are prone to fungal infections so keep the cut as clean as possible. If it starts getting worse consult a vet for antibiotics. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
