| | | First reptile of 2008 for me. Hi all,
With the weather looking quite good today and noticably less wind of late, I took a trip to a local site with a friend. Spent a little bit looking around but with no luck initially.
Went back to a certain part which is possibly the best place to see lizards basking and heard a rustle and movement within the grass. I caught a glimpse of a lizard moving and instead of heading for cover it went to another place to bask. It was a adult male with a regenerating tail and managed to get some half decent pics of it.
Keep your eyes peeled, I'm sure it wont be long before someone else makes a sighting.

Mark | That's great stuff. Can't wait to get to Pwllheli in March to see my Adders.

| | | Re: First reptile of 2008 for me. Had another look at the same site today, my friend spotted a juvenile lizard basking then another one we must have disturbed close by. Further along, 3 lizards, basking quite close to each other - got a few nice pics.
A few minutes later whilst looking at another part of the site, saw a adult male Adder basking on a mossy patch within close proximity of cover. So if I were you Yellowhammer - get out and start looking!

| | | Re: First reptile of 2008 for me. I was only thinking the other day that it will not be long now to go out and find Adders at a site I know close to home.
Having read this thread, it looks like I need to start today.

| | | Re: First reptile of 2008 for me. Think I saw a squashed common lizard this morning on the road, it had only just been hit. Never seen one so close up, shame it was dead.
My daughter wanted to take it to pre-school..............
We put it in the hedge instead. |

| | | Re: First reptile of 2008 for me. I haven't seen any Slowworms yet, even though theres quite a few sites for them close to where I live. Was down in Dorset today at a place I've seen Adders before - no Adders today but saw a Sand Lizard which is the earliest I've seen one of those.
