Hi there,
I was working on heathland today and came across this wonderful female who was quite willing to pose for some shots!! I think because of the cooler temperatures she wasn't as active as she would have been earlier on in the year.
Lucky for me though! I got a few descent shots earlier on this year but wasn't able to get as close as I did today.   
I really wasn't expecting to see any adders until next year. I hope she survives the colder weather and gets to her hibernaculum asap! |

No not really. Quite chilly actually. I was wrapped up well with a thermal top and a fleece. The wind factor didn't help either.
I took these in Chobham, Surrey. I was surprised to see her.
This might be the latest in the year that I have ever seen them. |

Yes I can imagine.Fingers crossed she found somewhere suitable.Forecast a very cold night tonight...-3 here...

nice photoes,she is out rather late in the year,but then what do you exspect the weather is up the creek good and propper this year,the trouble with english weather one day its like spring then the next morning it could be 3 below zero. |

I'm thinking that she may have been disturbed. Maybe by us working close by or by dogs that are very common on the site, and tend to run around amongst the heather alot.  | | | |
