| | | Re: Adders The large one was possibly a grass snake, as for that pic - the eyes look red with a vertical slit pupil just visible and I can just about make out a zig-zag. So yup, you have your first Adder.
Nice one, I'm gonna get out somewhen this week and check for Smooth Snakes(I have a license)

Thanks for the positive ID. It did have slit eyes, so therefore an Adder. I did not know this way of identification until you told me. That’s the brilliant thing about forums like this

I was out last week, found 5 Adders, 2 Slow-worms, Quite a few Common and Sand Lizards, 1 Grass Snake and 1 Smoothsnake. I did have a look out for Adders and wildlife in general, no adders but plenty of Insects. 9:30 this morning and it was too warm then!
