| | | Slow worm advice needed please Hi,
My Husband found a baby slow worm yesterday which was in danger, so he brought it home. It is currently living in a bucket fith twigs & greeney, sprinkled very lightly with a few drops of water.
We would love to keep him & have him live in the compst heap, but need some advice as to how we do this.
Should he remain indoors until older, should we get him some mates......?
All help gratefullt recieved. |

All help gratefullt recieved. | i'm not an expert but i think at this time of year he ought to be hibernating - therefore it might be best to put him in the compost heap and leave him be.
unless it is actually injured wildlife is almost always best off in the outdoors rather than inside in artificial conditions.
and again i dont think you should get him some "mates" as this would mean relocating slow worms from a habitat where they are already okay - which might not be in their best interests (however well intentioned) and also possibly illegal as they are a protected species
that said it does depend on how baby - if hes too young to fend for himself prior to hibernation then a wildlife rescue centre with experience in these things is probably your best bet.
