morning toad

I have just been in the garden on this bright sunny morning and seen, sat in the open on the path, a large brown toad. It was in the same small area I have seen it several times previously and I suspect it lives just under the decking ( into which it just crawled).
Is it likely this was a "late " Toad returning from a nights hunting?::

Yes probrably although it is not uncommon for toads to hunt at anytime through the day.
