| | Froglets.. Im keeping several froglets captive in a tank while renovating our pond. Im keeping them in a decent size tank in the garden. Theyre are places to hide and swim and the tank is moist and partly shaded. I tried to feed them some ants but no success they will be in there for around a week and want to know how to care for them properly. They seem to small (around 1cm) to begin feeding them on the slugs and snails ive been finding. Any suggestions on what i could give them ?
Thanks

| | | Re: Froglets.. Aphids/greenfly should keep them going for a week, pretty easy to come by too(in my garden anyway!).Ants are probably a bit too big and aggressive for froglets. If you have any local reptile dealers, they may sell cricket hatchlings which they'd eat.

good luck. | Generally best to avoid feeding maggots to anything, unless you are sure it has a top class digestive system.

| | | Re: Froglets.. I kept a few froglets many years ago. I had some success with feeding them aphids. However, once I made the mistake of not removing all the ants that were busy tending their aphid flocks (or was it herds?).
The rather distressing result was that the ants attracted the froggies attention so they preferentially went for them. However, ants are tough little beasts and refused to be swallowed and at lest one stung a frog on its tongue...
So my advice is stick to soft bodied invertebrates!
