| | | Common Garden Frogs? I've just been outside and near the pond are 2 frogs. One is green - I've looked at pics and figure it's a Common Garden Frog. The other one is a vivid orange/brown colour - is this the same?
Oh, and the orange/brown frog appeared to be eating a slug - do they do that? (I guess my knowledge of frogs is lacking here).
I took a couple of pics with my camera phone - will try to upload them in a mo.

| | | Re: Common Garden Frogs? I had some very colourful froggies at my last house. Have a look in 'my Gallery' - put Cazzie in the search username and you'll see!
Ours used to love being fed flying ants off a stick when they emerged lol! |

| | | Re: Common Garden Frogs? Frogs range through alot of colours from blue to yellow. Yes highly common to eat slugs perhaps one of the most important prey items for a frog. Probrably a brown frog although could be a common toad bufo bufo. |

| | Re: Common Garden Frogs? Just been outside and done a "frog-count" and I spy one green, one pale brown and one orangey-pink one happily splish-splashing around which is great
Then I had a thought...
We put our pond in 2 years ago. None of our neighbours have ponds (I know this by using a certain website that shows satellite images hehe).
So...
Where did the frogs come from? Did they fall out of the sky (from alien spaceships??)

Frogs/amphibians require damp environments such as under bushes, in long grass, under logs, etc water is only needed to breed. So they will have come from local gardens with suitable habitats for them. |

We've had froggies in our new garden recently and we haven't got a pond or water feature at all yet - they must be just passing through I reckon!
