| | froglets dying Hi, i have tadpoles kept in a aquarium indoors, 2 of the tadpoles made it into froglets, still with there tails though, but this morning i woke up to find them dead and the taddies eating them, does anyone know what would have caused them to die? and what i can do to stop it happening again when the others turn into froglets as they are all at different stages. thank you from becky |

| | | Re: froglets dying Thank you for your reply, i have a quarter of the aquarium mounted up with pebbles and some oxygenating weed, there is a froglet in there now that only got his front legs yesterday, he sits in the weed, and occasionally swims about, but he doesn't seem to eat like the tadpoles do. should i feed him something different perhaps, not sure!? the tadpoles are being fed lettuce leafs that i have boiled for 10 mins and pieces of chicken. The tadpoles are fine, its just when they turn into froglets they die!!!!!!! |

| | | Re: froglets dying Im by no means an expert but as its an indoor tank maybe the chicken has soured the water . I know they need protine in there diet but there are live water bugs you can give that as they are alive dont go off. Check the "have tadpoles need feeding ?" thread there is a lady who bought some from a aquatic place. Also I know that the little froglets I have don't seem to touch the chicken any more but they are outside (maybe eating bugs )
It maybe just unlucky it might be nothing you've done at all |

| | | Re: froglets dying Hi, thanks for the reply, i'll try some bugs, i have a feeling its because the froglets are not eating anything! the taddies are, but not the froglets they just sit on the weed with there heads poking out. thanks anyway. |

| | | Re: froglets dying How warm is the tank?
I once kept a tankful of tadpoles and young frogs in the garden- one overcast day I went out, the weather cleared and became very hot and sunny, and by the time I returned home a few hours later all but three of the froglets had died D: |
