Do big frogs eat new froglets please?

We have many tadpoles that have become frogs - in fact all are developed or happily developing from a hundred or so. We have several large frogs already in the garden and am wondering whether they eat newly developed froglets?

Most frog species will eat any moving creature that will fit in their mouths, so it's more than likely they will take some froglets if the oppurtunity arises.

That was one of the reasons English Nature (as was) contained a recently established colony of North American Bullfrogs a few years back, as they were worried they could have had a negative impact on native amphibian populations.

As do all newts and toads, and even spiders and everything else that fancys an easy meal, unfortunately they are pretty low on the food chain till they get abit older.

The answer is probably would but most frogs vacate ponds where tadpoles are growing so generally don't.

Developing tadpoles, of course, will eat other tadpoles - the vast number of poles produced is actually a strategy to ensure that there is a food supply for at least some of the brood.
