| | | Late night amphibian visitor! We have a lil toad! We live about 30 minutes from the nearest pond so I am baffled as to where he could have come from.
What will we do with him?We can take him to the pond near us tomorrow... But what would we do with him overnight? He's teeny!
Well, compared to the last monster I held...
All I can think is some kid has brought him home from the Swallow Pond area... |

| | | Re: Late night amphibian visitor! I'd say put him back where you found him. They don't need to be near water all the time as long as they keep moist & toads less so as they have thicker, dryer skin than our other amphibians. |

| | | Re: Late night amphibian visitor! They wander at this time of year. Probably the best thing is find some vegetation nearby, away from the road, (do you have a garden?) and let it go. If it's come all the way from the pond under it's own steam, it won't thank you for taking it all the way back

| | | Re: Late night amphibian visitor! Thing is, I dunno if he could get here by his own steam... There isn't any green for mines around... Not proper stuff. I don't have a garden and they are all open round here... We have kids bring crabs and stuff back, and tadpoles before so it could be he's been fetched here? I'll pop him next doors bit of grass if needs be, but I'm worried summat will get him. He was just in the middle of the path with a dog after him. And we are surrounded by roads here, will he get wherever he got from safe?
I worry too much. |

Have you got a container you could put it in over night? |

| | | Re: Late night amphibian visitor! OK I see where you're coming from now, doesn't sound like a good environment for toads. Maybe you should keep him overnight and relocate to somewhere more suitable in the morning.

I'm sorry if I seem overly paranoid, but we are in the middle of a housing estate... Steve is now convinced a bird dropped him
Will he need anything else?
He's quite cute, I've nicknamed him Rufus while we awaited a reply. Nothing new there, I name my plants |

Possibly find some small slugs or other invertabtrates if it gets hungry. |

| | | Re: Late night amphibian visitor! K, we figure that he's a she, and she's a common toad... She has rather dark black stripes under her head bulges, and we can't see any nuptial pads on her fingers.
We can get slugs! We are good at slugs. Got hundreds of em here! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
