baby newts

Hi,
I have found a couple of baby newts in my black dustbin, which has just some floating plants and loads of watersnails. The newts still have their feathered gills. Guess they got there when i removed some of the plants.
Do i put them back in the pond, will they be eaten by the adult newts and frogs?
Should i leave them in the bin to grow bigger, there is daphina and a few waterlice in the bin plus the snails.
Should i feed them and if yes what can i feed them.

If there are Daphnia and such in the bin, then they will probably be all right - but if they seems to stop growing, probably best to move them. The bigger they are when/if you move them back, the more likely they are to survive the threat of being eaten.

Hi Galanthus and Henrya,
Thank you for your replies. Alas my camera isn't working at the moment so i can't post any pics. They are small and quite cute.
I do give the newts in the pond some fish food about every other day, they enjoy them, i do soak them first as i worry incase they choke on them.
Shall have another look at the babies, hopefully they will be ok.
