| | | I Saw 2 Reptiles In Pwllheli yep i finally saw 2 of our 6 UK HERPS
i was told by someone on here the area of BLACK ROCK SANDS IS productive with lizards so i went, found a campsite and looking around saw nothing (mainly looking for adders) then i looked under a piece of rock slate and a big hole and saw some twigs,1 though was EXTREMLY smooth,on closer inspection it moved off into a dark hole and was a slow worm.
next we went round the campsite, looking for adders and whilsht walking a lizard ran ACROSS THE PATH INFRONT OF US FROM A SHADY SIDE TO A SUNNY SIDE.it sat in the bushes right on the path for ages and allowed me to get extremly close within A foot of it,he was lovly ,i got some pics to which i will post later. so they made my weekend/year.
just adders to find now which i think i heard one slither off in the bushes, very loud but heard nothing and same with another lizard while liftin a log it must have been next to it and jumped away.

| | | Re: I Saw 2 Reptiles In Pwllheli good work Phil. I had a few days in Suffolk recently and was also keen to see a few reptiles. I did manage to see a Common Lizard basking in the sun on a cliff top. I also saw a baby grass snake in a similar position. But I got an even better view of a large adult grass snake as it slithered off into some foliage once it saw us. It was my longest, closest view of a wild snake to date. I was hoping to see an Adder but didn't manage it despite looking in what I thought was some likely terrain. I've still never seen one, nor a Slow Worm for that matter.

************PICS TO COME SOON*************** | I'm surprised you heard anything of an adder slithering away. They're normally very quiet when they move, probably to avoid predators. It could have been a number of things you heard. Congrats on seeing the slow worm and lizard though, looking forward to pics. |

| | | Re: I Saw 2 Reptiles In Pwllheli Yes definately a common lizard, wonderful. The area where you thought you heard the adder looks like adder territory to me so it is a possibility. |
