yep thats the one bearded dragon lizard - Pogona Vitticeps if anyone cares closely related to the iguana and definitely not native british wildlife (although my mate garry did once recover a 3ft long iguana from a garden in brighton but thats another story ) I'm fairly sure i took this either at marwell zoo or at the cotswold wildlife park

I took a few photos of one over in France and it certainly wan't too keen on me getting too close, was also surprised at how high they could jump, casually taking the 25cm steps up to the building in quick succession.

Is it definitely a common lizard, and not a sand lizard? It looks quite green in your photos. I guess amongst other things it would depend on where you are.

We are on the north Kent coast. There were two lizards...the one in the photo which was this olive green colour and the other (much more timid) was a browner one. I believe they can vary in colour quite a lot.

No doubt about it being a Common Lizard- male Sand Lizards are a far more intense green. Example below:

Some cool pictures of lizards you are all showing here. I had my firsts of the year on my local patch this weekend. Not tame however! As with most reptiles if you 'get' them before they warm up they are much more docile and easy to approach. This fella was photographed at 3 in the afternoon on one of our recent hot days.....I stalked up on him for the snap but he was off quickly.
