What a difference a month makes!

Headed back to my Sand Lizard spot again today.
I went a bit later in the day and the lizards seemed less alert, and I managed to get really close to some of the beautiful males, who seem even more colourful now.
Here are a couple of close up shots I got of some of the males




Only the one female around again, however I did manage a photo of a juvenile I saw, last time I visited they were too quick for me!


However, I was happiest to see 2 Adders. This is the first time I've seen Adders in around 10 years. The first was an adult which I heard and then saw while I was trying to sneak up on a male Sand Lizard. Then I found a very small baby Adder which then escaped under a log. I was really pleased to see them, although they moved a bit too quick to get a photo. Next time I visit I will see if I can photograph some Adders.

Yes, I'm sure they're really enjoying this weather, all the males were out on the banks soaking up the sun. Soon there should be more females out as well, and if I'm lucky I'll catch an Adder sunbathing next time I visit.
