| | | What Eats Frogspawn? We were delighted to find frogspawn in our small suburban pond for the first time this year. I was quite concerned this morning when I went out to check on it and found that there seemed to be a lot less, and there were some small blobs of spawn around the edge of the pond.
Our garden is fairly enclosed so the only likely culprits are
1: The cats
2: Hedgehog
3: Rat or other small rodent
4: Birds (although we have plenty of other food sources for them)
Can anyone suggest what might have gotten to our spawn?

Thanks for the replies so far. The spawn first appeared about 2 weeks ago. I don't think it has hatched yet as the tadpoles have clearly started to develop but don't yet have distinct tails.
We have had a couple of hedgehogs coming in through the cat-hole in the fence and they do use the pond as a water source...
We don't get many birds in the back garden due to having 4 cats...
I'm thinking Hedgehog is the most likely. Greedy git! As if I don't put out enough peanuts for them!
