| | | Wow factor..how to get it.. I have seen some landscape shots with that wow factor mine are just mediocre I want to add something to them.
I am off to the Pembroke coast and would love to come back with some really beautiful shots.
What lens is best for landscape,
I have an 18-55mm that came with the camera,
a Tamron 70-300mm
and a canon 70-200..
and a macro lens but will not take this
I intend to take the canon 70-200mm.
Have you any tips on how to get that beach, sea, coastal stunner..
Cheers Elaine. |

| | | Re: Wow factor..how to get it.. It's not my strong area but I would definitely take the wide lens for landscapes. Best time of day is either just as the sun is rising or just as it's setting. This will get you the rich reds and golds that really light up landscape shots, and the shadows are better too. The 70-200 will be fine for some landscape shots (I often use a 100mm) but sometimes you really want that wide view across a bay or a valley.
There's some great bird watching to be done as well, so take the longer lens for that. |

| | | Re: Wow factor..how to get it.. There's usually lots of fine detail in landscapes, so you need good optics to resolve it - eg so tree foliage in the middle ground doesn't end up as a 'mush'.

| | | Re: Wow factor..how to get it.. So I need,
good light,
a good lens,
Stability,
good scenery,
good weather,
and a lot a lot of luck.
I intend to go out after breakfast so it will be mainly daytime (the worst time) to be out mostly.
Camera settings ISO 100-800 depending on the clouds.
F16 to get foreground and background in focus,
The WB will prove a challenge as there will water in the shots..
keep the tips coming.. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
