| | | Re: Macro focus frustration I would be cautious about zooming when using macro settings, a wide angle setting gives you the capacity to focus closer (don't know the technical reason), and zooming in will result in your point of closest focus moving further away. With the Nikon Coolpix 4500, there is a macro "band" somewhere near full wide angle, the macro indicator onscreen goes gold and then you can shoot. The Canon G12 gives macro distances for fully wide angle and fully zoomed, you get closer results at full wide angle.

The original problem was how to get the autofocus to "look" at the desired point, but Woodman seems to have solved that, at least on his desk - we now need to see if he can do it with a macroshot! Some of the advice posted on here seems more applicable to a DSLR rather than a compact - it looks as if it just needed time to sort out the settings..... |

| | | Re: Macro focus frustration got to say i use Kayleigh's trick and move the camera in or out to focus,
i have found that not all the subject gets in focus, might be because im using macro screw on lens.It helped me take some good close up shots of subbuteo figures, and now i'm experimenting myself on wildlife...
heres one i took doing it and u can see only the eye is in real focus
