| | | motion photography Hi folks, hope yous can help and answer a few questions for me. I live on the edge of a village in the country and I have collected road kill for a few months and stored them in a large freezer and I now put them out in the garden every day. Some days I get Buzzards eating them, but for the last two weeks about 7 pheasants have gone over night. I suspected Fox and today my thoughts were proved right as the foot prints in the snow were definately from a Fox. Any way I am a pretty keen wildlife photographer and would like to get a shot of this Fox. I am not keen enough to sit up all night though just in case it never came and was wondering what set up was required when taking pics that were triggered through movement. For example at the moment I have Nikon D80 so what equipment would I need and roughly how much would it cost to buy the relevant equipment for the job? I would be very interested to hear from any one who has experience in this field, it seems really fascinating. |

This is a link to a how to PDF. http://www.wildlifewatchingsupplies....rared-tips.pdf
The Zigview has the ability to trigger the shutter based on mothion although I am not sure it would work at night. Seculine Zigview S2 Type B
Disclaimer: I haven't bought these or used them an in no way trying to suggest you should buy them from the stores indicated.

| | | Re: motion photography If you continue to put out food very regularly then this fox may begin coming quite early on in the evening and you may not need too sit up all night!! Its worth thinking about cos a picture you have set up for and expose for while the fox is there may be much superior to one that 'takes itself' I'd wait around a bit on the off chance - I would certainly sit up one night - on my days off work or at weekend and see what transpired! |

| | | Re: motion photography There is a great thread on this site in the Photographic Equipment forum entitled ' neat little trick for Nikon DSLR users'. It sounds as if it might do exactly what you want, just with the camera. Ah, just realised it relies on focusing, which may be difficult in the dark- but you may be able to do something with what is discussed. I'd give you an exact link to it, but I don't know how to do that.
If you can't find it, let me know.

| | | Re: motion photography So Fudgey, you have had a number of responses to your question, which may, or may not, help. It was obviously quite important to you when you asked, but we don't know if you have solved the problem . Have you now managed to get photos of the misterious visitor??

| | | Re: motion photography Once again sorry for the delay, 15 hour shifts 7 days a week arent helping matters. Still not an excuse. Any way thanks to everyone again, some great replies, but Ive decided to go with PMGs advice and sit it out over the Xmas holidays. There has been a man seen out the back of my house in the field recently so Im not risking leaving my equipment. Thanks once again and if I get it in shot yous will be the first to see the results | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
