New Photographer looking for South Wales Mentor !

Hi all,

Still new to the forum but loving the advice and carmaraderie!

Im really getting into my wildlife photography and have recently forked out on :

Canon 450 D
Sigma 150 - 500
Sigma 1.4 Tele
Sigma 105 Macro

Im sure i getting a little better

, but i could really do with a bit of hands on advice from someone experienced. Ive joined the local photography club but they seem mostly interested in discussing editing and photoshop, which really doesnt float my boat yet.

What im after is just a couple of hours with someone to bed-down on the basics.

Is there anyone out therewho does 1-2-1 tuition or is willing to shadowm me for a few hours. Im happy to travel and pay for someones time, and live in Swansea so im pretty close to WWT Llanelli.

Getting really frustrated so any assistance would be brill.

Hi Stuart
You have got yourself some good gear there which is very capable of producing great results. All you need now is to get to grips with the basics and then lots of practice!
When I took up wildlife photography earlier this year, I went along to WWT Llanelli and met several very experienced photographers there (including members of this site) who were pleased to give me some invaluable guidance and who have really inspired me. If you ask around there, I am sure you will find someone who will be able to help you with the basics or who knows someone who could help you.

Hiya Stuart,

Happy to meet you down at WWT Llanelli if you want any help...I've got the Sigma 50-500mm which is a fairly similar lens to yours

There are a fair few of us from this site who go down there pretty regularly.

At the moment I can only get there at weekends due to work, but will be off on maternity leave in a fortnight and intend to get down there a bit more regularly before baby arrives at the end of November to enjoy my last few weeks of freedom!!

As for camera clubs in Swansea, I'm a member of the Morriston one which is pretty good, there are a few of us who are into wildlife photography there, and everyone is helpful and friendly

Sounds good to me!! Am totally free for the next couple of weekends, so might try to get down there if the forecast looks ok

Hi Stuart, thank you for your P.M. I'll try and get around to answering it in the next couple of days, in the meantime there are several of us that meet at the Wetlands on a regular basis (in my case work permitting) I'm sure any one of them would be only too pleased to give you any assisstance you need.
The next time I'm off work and made plans to go to the Wetlands I'll P.M. you to see if you can meet us there.
I have the Sigma 150-500 also so can help you with that, my camera is a Nikon so the others will help you with with your Canon.

Hi Stuart. I live about 5 minutes from the wetlands and go there 2 or 3 times a week sometimes. as I don't work I can go there anytime so if you want to meet up just P.M or e.mail me when you are going.
