OH used to do amazing 'trompe l'oeils' and murals for various places around the world before he started his photography degree so we really like stuff like this - and Banksy of course!
Photography is an entirely different artistic kettle of fish though - fantasy photography/art comes the nearest to crossing over.

I've been working with four special needs kids in our Year Six class - one is an ardent Banksy fan and we have tried to make some digital images with views thru holes in walls etc. We recently had the children take some photos of the new buildings just added to the school and I've tried to do a 'joiner' in Powerpoint (saved as a jpeg) - I'll have to get them to try some more that overlap/converge and see what we come up with. They really enjoy it and behaviour is perfect when we are working on this sor of thing |

It would be great fun for them. You could cover a wall and it would be a good exercise in observation - just like jigsaws. You could vary the difficulty level by how many images you choose. Each kid could take a section? The overlapping is pretty important but I always leave one gap
Just like the friezes we used to do at school made out of individual efforts for a whole finished product! Or individual efforts would be an alternative.
I'm not sure how you managed it in Powerpoint???
Have fun!

I've not come across the "joiner" method as a recognised artistic technique - just something folks occasionally did with a handful of holiday snaps back in the days of film . Anyway, I like the resulting images very much - particularly the two of your garden.

Bruce | Cheers Bruce! It can get a bit obsessive. I've done about 10 of the garden and I still think I can do better.
There's a lot of learning goes on doing them (re effects of different lenses and focal length mostly) which ain't a bad thing. You have to try to grasp fairly elusive concepts and try to visualise what's going to happen in the future when they're put together.
