I have a 2 Gig card that saves my JPEGS
I have an 8 Gig card that saves my RAW files
Is there any point in saving both large JPEGS and large RAW.
I am thinking maybe at a meet. I may shoot say 400 images a day (on a 2 Gig card) which at night I want to download and review fast, so maybe shooting low quality JPEGS is better for this purpose as I still have the high quality should there may be one of the 400 (about my keep rate that I may want to work with.
The 8 Gig Card can download either whilst I am enjoying one of Oscars curries or after Malcolm has put me to sleep with his conversation

If you are "dual card", are you shooting with a D300s? Quote:

| | | Re: RAW and JPEG I used to photograph in both JPEG and RAW. But then found that i was deleting all the JPEG's and just working on my RAW photos.
Seemed a waste of time, so now i only photograph in RAW |

Maybe worth a go though, you never know.

Maybe worth a go though, you never know. | As I said I still keep making schoolboy errrors. I literally need a check list for every time I go out

| | | Re: RAW and JPEG I think everybody just develops their own way of working and for some shooting both RAW and JPEG fits in with their workflow, others will shoot hundreds of shots and need the extra memory space that only working in JPEGs allows and some will like the idea of having a RAW file as an immutable file they can keep whilst they mess around in Photoshop or whatever. I'd say work out a way that works for you and stick to it rather than messing around too much. If you're a decent photographer you'll produce decent results whichever way you do it. Personally I'm RAW only and if I get half a dozen good final shots that's a good day - and each can take up to 30 minutes or even an hour and lots of trying different shutter speeds, apertures etc before I get the exposure I really like.

(Tho' one is mainly for TV and is hooked off the sky satellite and linked to some wizzo sat-nav card so I can record TV in my own little snug - techie son is quite useful! He's even thrown out my 27 year old Hi-Fi - that was like a bereavement, though I have to admit the sound is better, I haven't used the tape deck or turntable for 15 years, nor the CD since I ripped most of my CDs to MP3 5-8 years ago, and FM since the ariel got bent in a gale 3 years ago.. )
