| | | Re: Disappointment in Bird Photography One thing i would advise where possible, is to use a remote trigger.
In low light conditions like winter, i tend to set my camera up on a tripod, set focus to a particular spot, nice and early before birds come to feed.
Then retreat to the warmth of my house, or a hide, I can then randomly fire of shots, so that after a couple of hours, the birds will get use to the noise and stop flying off everytime i release the trigger.
This just means i can setup the camera nice and close, without the birds thinking it is a threat, and reduce the focul length and ISO, and still maintain a nice close image.
