| | | Re: I got the 50-500mm! any tips and tricks? :) well... spent all morning trying it out, don't think any of my photos are *very* good - the lighting conditions were appalling too - but i had such fun, and it's a wonderful lens, even though I can't do it real justice yet. I think I may have got one or two nice pics anyway - and my day was made by seeing my first kingfisher and also a small flock of goldeneye, which was rather nice!
xx

Yes, it takes a little bit of getting used to and is definately not a handheld lens unless you are shooting birds in flight in good light.
Aside from that it offers superb optical quality and the versitility to cope with most situations, all at a reasonable cost.
My top two tips would be:
1 - Avoid using it at anything less than f8, it has a sweet spot between f9 & f13.
2 - Try to keep to 400mm or below if possible, at 500mm the images are slightly softer and will require a little more work than those taken at 400mm and below.
The best way to get used to the Bigma is to get out there and take loads of images, you'll soon master the beast and when you do you won't want to take it off the camera again!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
