| | | Little Acorn 12MP Trail Camera I've recently bought this camera, and I'm having great fun finding out what's in my garden at night.
The problem is that due to the high number of rabbits in the garden, I'm getting no end of photos each night and the batteries are flat after only about 10 days.
Does anyone know if you can get re-chargeable batteries for this camera. I've looked online and can find nothing.
(Apologies to all you proper photographers on this forum).
Thanks. |

I too have just bought one of these, and I'm pretty certain you can use Ni MH rechargeable batteries - I'm sure it says that in the instruction book (which is currently in the annexe so I can't check it at present).
All I have had so far are rabbits and cats and one possible Muntjac (grey shape and glowing eyes in the dark). But the weather has been so miserable that I am not surprised. Hoping that as tonight is supposed to be dry, if cold, that I might get better results tonight.

I use a sealed lead acid 7Ah battery that lasts for years. This is connected via a lead with female spade terminals on one end (battery end) and the corresponding male plug on the other. Protect lead from mice and squirrels!
AA rechargables giving 2450mAh are available and should work well.

See 7dayshop.com - Online Store | You are right - the Little Acorn has a suitable socket for an external battery.

henrya | Thanks henrya,
I've re-read the instruction book, properly this time, and you are right.
I hope you soon get better results. Quote:

See 7dayshop.com - Online Store | Thanks Woodman,
I understood the sentence about mice and squirrels
Technology is not my strong point.
I think I will go for the re-chargeables.
Thanks for the link. |

| | | Re: Little Acorn 12MP Trail Camera Reviewing my words I would like to say that the plug in the base of the camera is the male plug, suitably shielded by the camera housing. The plug on the end of the battery lead is the female plug.
Janec - don't worry about the technology - ask away, we are at all levels with this stuff. There's great gear out there. |

Possibly there is a confusion of terminology here?

| Badger and Rabbit last night, plus a couple of blurred shots of a Blackbird, and another of my legs as I went to pick up the camera. Getting better.

henrya | Possibly! My power lead plug has a hollow inner that locates over the pin in the camera base. I suppose it could be gendered which ever way?? |

But the power lead plug goes into a socket (male to female), doesn't it? The central pin is irrelevant - it doesn't (I imagine) stand proud of the base of the camera.
Hope these posts aren't getting too anatomical.
