| | | *** Quick Strap - Warning *** I've had a Quick Strap for a year or so and found it very convenient to use and generally well made. However I had the screw that secures the plate to the camera fail today and thought I'd issue a warning.
I wanted to use the camera on a tripod and removed the strap, but not the plate, and screwed the tripod screw into the female thread in the bottom of the QS screw. I needed to adjust the ball head on the tripod and moved the camera. The QS screw broke and the camera ended up in my hand.
The problem is that the hole for the female thread in the screw is drilled so deeply that it leaves very little material between the body and plain portion of the male thread on the other side - less than 0.5mm in one place.
I'll take some photographs later today and post them here.
I suggest that QS users replace their securing screw with one without a female thread, or one that obviously doesn't have the above defect.

Do you follow the QS thread on TP forums where users and Simon the trader discuss products/problems etc ?

I've posted an image of the broken screw.
NB: It's a stack of 50 images using CombineZM. There are some artefacts that I haven't bothered to attend to.
