| | | Re: New D800 Hmm, lots to drool over but not sure I'd want 36 megapixels! And it's got me worried that they'll be pushing up the pixels on the D400 whenever it's announced. I don't want that; I want better noise handling at high ISOs. I want to be able to shoot at ISO 800 and get results like I'm currently getting at ISO 200 and the higher they go on the pixel count the less chance I'll have.

| | | Re: New D800 I just read about this too. Lordy! how many megapixels. I'd consider this but I'd definitely like to see what a D400 (or whatever it ends up being) does.
And I'm with Dave here, definitely would like to see a definite improvement in noise handling over a massive increase in MP.
Now what can I sell to raise some money

| | | Re: New D800 It's be a mega pain to edit 36 Meg in Photoshop on an oldish machine, particularly something like a rotate!

| | | Re: New D800 I can't see this being of much interest to wildlife photographers.
Landscape or product and fashion shots is another matter, where fine detail is all important. The "E" version is very interesting. They take away the Anti-Aliasing filter and charge you more for the privilege! |

To paraphrase the movie Jaws - "We're gonna need a bigger hard drive" | Not only a bigger HD, but some serious processing power to PP a TIFF image. There'd be no point in PPing the smaller JPEG and then saving it as a TIFF.

| | | Re: New D800 I think it's memory that's key. I've been playing around with some chunky stitched panoramas recently - 1.5GB uncompressed tiff - and I'm pretty sure that it's memory causing my PC to struggle.
I'm with Graham - this model is aimed at commercial studio photographers and landscape artists. It's not really for wildlife.
Although if anyone wants to buy me one I won't complain!
