You just need to get used to it. Lenses are similar to camera bodies in that they have a knack that just using it will mean better shots on the horizon

It looks to be the sort of thing you drive up to within a few yards of a hide and lug the equipment into it.

Jim | You would need a lens that big if you went to a hide here you can hardly see the bird through bins they are that far away. |

Sometimes it's nice to get out of the wind though. The hides at College Lake near Tring are comfy - glazed with wooden floors, and chairs.

Jim | They are very comfortable here but just too far away from the birds.
I don't use them very often only when at a reserve. |
