| | | Service and Repair - withdrawal symptoms I finally got my 80-400mm lens back on Tuesday but it's still not right.
I was planning on dropping the body in for a service anyway, it needs the rubber grips replacing and there's an intermittent fault with the pop-up flash, so camera and lens were prised out of my shaking hands at the Nikon service centre in Kingston this morning. Hope it won't be too long before they're back as camera cold turkey is no fun. I also hope fervently that they can resolve the issues with the lens. So far all I'm getting is "it's within spec".

| | | Re: Service and Repair - withdrawal symptoms That's unfortunate Dave - hope they can get it back to you soon, and properly working this time.
On the plus side, without a camera to hand, you're bound to see some pretty amazing stuff while you're out and about! |

| | | Re: Service and Repair - withdrawal symptoms At least at this time of year the weather is lousy and the light even worse, so if it has to happen, better now than in mid-summer.

You know if you do you'll come across the perfect photo opportunity. The once in a lifetime shot that you always get when you haven't got the camera! |

| | | Re: Service and Repair - withdrawal symptoms Mmmm - poor you the lens situation doesn't sound right - if being within spec means results are bad then something ain't right? Hopefully the camera will return as good as new ... I have my fingers crossed for you Like Audrey says at least its the depths of winter and not in the middle of May or June ... small consolation I know ....

| | | Re: Service and Repair - withdrawal symptoms I know the feeling..I sent my Sigma 17-70 f2.8/4 to sigma this morning as it's hunting all the time in AI Servo mode. It's the best Portrait/wedding lens I've ever had. It's been tested on a 50D/5DMk2/7D and just keeps hunting when it use to focus in very dark places.
Must use my 70-200 until I get it back.
Will never ever buy another Sigma lens ever again. Fed up of them braking down.
Hope you get yours back soon. |

| | | Re: Service and Repair - withdrawal symptoms You both have my sympathy. When my bins had to go in for repair (not really a camera, but of similar importance) I was really quite upset, traumatized almost. I wish I'd never got this pair. I should have followed my instinct and gone for the top brand. But I wanted them there and then. Oh, the follies of "youth".
