| | | Re: Question about lens Again I think the photo is just a little soft rather than a problem with the focussing. Many zoom lenses, even very expensive ones, can be a little soft at the top end.
However, the conditions were not great and overcast days can result in flat looking photos and are not the best when trying to use a high zoom, as Mike has noted.
You mentioned that the photos you have posted are straight out of the camera. Have you tried some sharpening on the original in a photo editor?
I tried to look at the EXIF data on your photo but it seems to missing. It would be useful to know the camera settings.

| | | Re: Question about lens Dave-
I'm not sure of the camera settings I know there is a way to tell.... I'll have another look at it once I get the batteries back in this morning, (I've got good rechargeables, but leaving it on almost continuously like I do when I'm sitting out in the garden just eats them at a shocking rate!
I do often use Photoshop to sharpen images, but since I'm at my parents' at the moment I'm using Pixir to edit and crop any I post here. That one of the goldfinches I put up as it was, so you could see the photo as the camera took it. I do miss my Photoshop!
I didn't bid on the zoom lens in the end.... the seller couldn't tell me who the maker was, because he'd bought it second-hand himself, so I thought best not. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
