D4 will be announced on Jan 6th.
16.2MP
11 FPS
ISO 100-12,800
D800 will be announced in February
36MP (7360x4912)
4 FPS (6FPS with grip)
ISO 100-6400
Not much info on the D400 yet, supposedly a "bigger D7000" and maybe out in time for the Olympics.
If this info is correct, the D4 will be a replacement for the D3S, and the D800 for the D3X.
Cheers,

ISO 100-12,800 | That sounds promising! The D3 and D300 were launched together at virtually identical (what's 0.2 megapixels between friends) resolutions so I'm hoping that the D400 will also be around the 16Mp mark. There was talk of it possibly being 24Mp but if so, it almost certainly won't have improved high ISO noise handling over the D300 and there'll be little point in an upgrade for me. What I want, what I'm gagging for, is to be able to use ISO 800 in the same way that I currently use ISO 200 and to be able to push it up to ISO 1600 without worrying too much. I'd be happy if they stuck with 12Mp as long as they gave me that!

| | | Re: d7000 d300s or d300 That is what we are all waiting for Dave. No Noise at iso800 and minimum at 1200. But the Greedy Muggers at Canikon will not do it even though they can.

| | | Re: d7000 d300s or d300 Very happy indeed with my D7000. Superb results with my Nikon 300mm f4 lens.
Very good at the higher ISOs.
Re exposure. I often use -0.7. But like most photographers I continually take test shots to check exposure and doing that has become second nature. So the need for some compensation is no problem whatsoever.
And I took my D80 and 70-300mm lens to Snowdonia as an easy walkabout option. And for steam loco photos the D80 and zoom lens needs around -0.7 exposure compensation virtually all the time. For some shots -1.0.
Cheers,
Bryan

Quite a few people I know use the D300 or D300s and they get exceptional images from them.
Read as much as you can about the 7000 before you buy it. | Bunkum, pure bunkum..I heard that the Canon 7d is noisy, some say it is some say its not... |
