Soon time for my BIG birding lens

Following on from the comments about TC I thought I would try my "old" Canon 1.4TC on the "new" 300 F2.8 to see how much it degraded the image. I was pleasently surprised.

Here is what it did, JPEG's straight from the camera apart from crop and resize so they were small enough to upload.



They would have been sharper and had more zing without the TC, but they would have been smaller too.

I used to use it on the 100-400 but not often as the results were not quite what I was after.
Having said that having used the 100-400mm for a long time I was very pleased with it and the results. It is a very good lens and if you want to travel light it is very hard to beat.
