| | | Re: Canon g12? All the G series are good - we've got an old G4 at work which is still good for its age.
one thing i'd note though is if you liked the G9 they are still readily available s/h on ebay etc

Jim | Honestly, no!
Otherwise you would be carrying you camera every where you go 24/7 just incase you miss that 'special' picture.
Though I do know what your saying, but I would rather have 'a' camera than not. So when it's not good to be lugging the 7D around I will have the G12 at least. |

| | | Re: Canon g12? Just a small warning about care with these cameras. I have a much-loved G10 and just had to pay £185 for a new lens unit, after scratches appeared on the lens, which were causing flare in the pictures when the sun was at an angle. I believe it's quite a common accident with the G series, that, if you get a bit of grit around the lens or its folding cover, the cover has such a close fit over the lens the grit scores the surface as it closes.
I was taking my G10 on dog walks and thought it was safe in a padded case around my belt, but I should have checked the case for grit I think. I don't take it out and about as much any more, but certainly they're great cameras otherwise. |

But warning noted Dillybythesea - thanks.

| | | Re: Canon g12? Well I have bitten the bullet and bought the g12. Initial impression is very impressive. Shame the detailed manual is on a disc rather than hard copy. For 400 quid I'd at least expect a manual I didn't have to read on my laptop!
Works well with my 270 ex flash as well...... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
