| | | finepix s5600 Hi,
Im new to this forum and photography so bare with me. I have a fuji finepix s5600 and was wanting to purchase an add-on telephoton lense for a little extra distance for bird photography. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, i've come across the OlympusTCON-17, but cannot get confirmation that this will fit onto the s5600?
Thanks for any info! |

Thanks for any info! | I think it will - it certainly fits on the 7000 and 9000 series of the fuji finepix and the filter thread on the front of the 5600 is the same as its bigger brothers ( I think) - matt xyz is your man for these things , what he dont know about tcon use aint worth knowing

The TCON17 needs a 55mm thread on the camera's lens, I'm fairly sure the Fuji 5600 has a 55mm thread so you should be fine (it might be worth checking). However, if it doesn't you will simply need a step-up or step-down ring which can easily be purchased from Jessops. The TCON is a good teleconverter although I've only ever used it on a Panasonic FZ30 rather than on a Fuji.

| | | Re: finepix s5600 The TCON-17 works very well on the S5600 although it does reduce the minimum focus distance. You may need to use macro mode if the subject is closer than about 12 feet and it will only focus down to about 7 feet. Apart from that it works very well.

| | | Re: finepix s5600 Well was I happy when I saw this thread.I wanted a camera with a bit more zoom and also one where I could eventually add lenses and filters for as and when I could afford to.My first good digital camera was a fuji and I loved it but as I got more into wildlife photography I out grew it.I then got a Minolta Z20 when my father passed away and he left me a little money and I was able to afford one.The only trouble was that less that a year later Minolta was taken over and the only lens you could get for it was a wide angle lens which is now impossible to get.
I feel i want more from my camera but the ones that Beryl and a few others on the site use are well out of my league so I have been searching around for something I could manage and add to as time went on.I purchased the s5600 on Amazon which should be with me in 2 days and seeing this thread I now know there are lenses etc out there for me when I can afford them.It is already going to be a lot better for me as it has 10x zoom and takes photos in raw too which if I understand rightly is a good thing.Already ordered a large xd card to cope
Am getting excited now.Hope you are all ready for my questions about raw.Hope I can manage with PSPX for edits as I have used psp for years and know my way around it a bit.Tried photo shop elements and others but could not get on with them.So sticking to what I know.
First question about raw is ,do I use some other program before I put it in PSP or will PSP read them and what format do I save them as when editing, printing etc.Thats just to go on with there may be more later Sorry if I have hijacked the thread. When I have other questions I will start my own |

| | | Re: finepix s5600 This is a useful , if a little more expensive, alternative RAYNOX DCR-2020PRO High Definition Telephoto Conversion Lens@2.2X for Digital Cameras and Camcorders
It gives a bit more reach than the tcon -17 and has the facility to take a lens hood.It definitely works well with the Fuji S5600 as I know a member of another forum gets good results with this combo so it`s well worth considering. If you pm me i`ll send you the link to his Gallery (not sure if posting links to similar sites to this is allowed on here).
