| | | Re: Canon 7D soft images, does Canon have a problem with some of it's 7D's??? I thought that the soft focus was a inherent fault in the earlier batches of 7ds and now corrected ? if this was the case darrenm should have been entitled to a refund
the af focus problem is a completely different issue to the soft focus
my father has just upgraded to a 7d after his 40d gave up the ghost and has no problem with soft focus as far as i am aware
and i am extremely impressed by the colour luminosity of the shots compared to the 40d ,very tempted to upgrade soon |

| | | Re: Canon 7D soft images, does Canon have a problem with some of it's 7D's??? I had trouble with mine at first. It took a while to realise that the fancy AF is hopeless and useless - you don't want the camera deciding to focus on what it thinks it will - like the nearest wing tip or the shoulder - you want the eyes crystal - then the rest just follows on! You would have to be a very speedy person to use all the focus points and twiddle the ring around fast enough to keep up with a bird and not have the camera grabbing a piece of grass in front! The thing is the 40D is and still is an excellent camera but useless for flight shots - its just not up to that. The only time the extra focus points can be - and I do say can be helpful is for flight photography - but in truth you are still better off using the centre spot and 4 surrounding in a cross shape. I've settled on that and my results speak for themselves

Pauline | Couldn't agree more Pauline, and as far as I'm concerned the 7D is the best camera you can get for the money, and I think my results speak for themselves as well. |

Got some lovely wingtips before I realised that! I now use centre point or centre point with surrounding af points assist if/where available.
