| | | Tripod SOS Hi all,
Firstly hello this is my first post!
Ive recently bought a sigma 50-500 Non OS,
But having problems when looking for tripods,
I've only recently gone photography mad so would like it to be able to go very low as well as high as im 6'4! Im also learning the odd model shoots and will be investing into lighting, so all rounder tripod would be fab!
Price : 200mark if i must
Weight does't bother me!
2nd hand is fine!
Thanks for any replys Flickr: Sam?'s Photostream |

I'm also 6' 4" and it's high enough for me. It'll also go level with the ground.
The Uniloc is preferable to the similar Benbo, as it doesn't suffer from 'Benbo Creep'. Being a 'system' it's very much 'mix and match'. You can convert it to a 6' monopod. I've done so with mine and lofted it over my head to get over 12' up.
Disadvantage? You won't want to walk far with one!

Jim | THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
I am NOt the only one to swear by my Unilok then.
I use both a Giottos with a gimbal which goes firmly to 7' and a Unilok which I have had for fifteen years, it has been overboard a ship, down a waterfall and in the sea more times than I can remember as well as taking my fill flash for my wildlife shots.
Did you know that the chap who invented the BENBO was the man who went on to start Unilok.
As you can see my Unilok is fitted with a Giottos head. They are not cheap tripods but will outlive their owners.

| | | Re: Tripod SOS Manfrotto tripods are popular with 'all makes of photographers'.
The 055X is particularly well liked and has a choice of heads. No trouble with max height but minimum is around 2 ft if you have room to splay the legs. The centre column can be adjusted to work horizontally which gets you lower but this is sometimes a bit fiddly in confined spaces.
Very strong but a bit heavy. |

| | | Re: Tripod SOS Ive looked at the Uniloc and its not for me,
I also do landscapes and will be doing bits of flash photograhpy.
Im currently looking at carbon tripods but worried as there so light!
I know i can hang my bag on them but when the max weight is like 6 my camera weighs almost 3 alone :s |

| | | Re: Tripod SOS I have a Triopo, which takes my 500mm f/4. I love it...and it`s carbon. It`s light, and very competative at £109-00.

| | | Re: Tripod SOS Giottos and Unilok
Unilok are the most useful landscape / closeup tripods about, some people find them difficult to use but nothing at all is more flexible in use.
I wouldn't put my kit on carbon. And this isn't half of it.

Carbon is tempting as of weight but i don't want to be scared to look the other way when in strong winds to look back with my kit on the floor. lol | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
