| | | Calibration help I have decided that it's way past time that I calibrated screen, printer, etc.
To that end, I now have a Spyder, and have calibrated everything that I can.
The only thing left is the brightness of what I'm seeing on my screen. This is very much dependant on the viewing angle.
So, I've sort of concluded that viewing perpendicular to the screen is the obvious choice, but what angle do you use?
Also, to help me decide in a more practical way, could you please take a look at the 4 images in this gallery on my website. Each is a different exposure - which looks right to you?
Thanks,
Jerry |

Perpendicular is the only way to view, but a good graphics monitor will look the same over a decent angle.
Somewhere in between exposure 2 and 3 look right to me, but the correct way is to set the brightness to match a print from an accurately profiled printer viewed in daylight (not held next to the screen).
It should quickly become apparent if your prints are too dark or too light - adjust the screen to match the print by re-profiling with a higher or lower luminance value.

| | | Re: Calibration help Thanks, Brian.
I'm trying to use my laptop screen. It's a pretty good laptop, but I guess it's not ideal for graphics work.
I'm pleased about your view about the exposure of my images - because that's what I was thinking myself!
I'm going to have another look at the print calibration facilities of my Spyder system, to see if it has a calibrated image that I can print and use as you advised.
Thanks again for your help,
