is there a lens compatibility list?
after borrowing a 50mm for a few hours this afternoon i noticed i could not use the video mode on my 550d, It would just take a photo.

is there a list that says what functions a lens can or cant do? this would be beneficial when buying pre-loved not from a camera shop

Sounds like somethings faulty.

There's no reason the body can't record video with any lens stuck on the front of it.

Agreed, video is a function of the camera not the lens.
