I was playing around with flash on my 5D the other day, trying to use fill flash in AV mode. I couldn't understand why the shutter was always 1/200 until I realised that there is a custom function on the 5D to set the shutter to 1/200 in AV mode when using flash. For some reason I'd obviously selected this in the past. But the point is the custom function related to AV only which might explain why you found that TV and manual didn't use the fixed shutter speed. I haven't checked whether the 7D has the same custom function as the 5D but it's possible.

Matt | It is the same. If I'd looked correctly at the settings I'd have seen the AV function. So please forget the rubbish I put above, should have looked at the settings more carefully!
Still doesn't excuse Canon though! |

Thankfully I worked it out before giving Canon's customer service the chance to tell me I was stuck with it! Quote:

I quite agree!
Matt | Remember a certain battery we both bought?
Neither of us initially had the wit or reason to realise it had a covering over it and wondered why it wouldn't work! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
