| | | Nikon D300 users Hi everyone,
I'm wanting to know what you D300 users think of the noise on the shots at ISO640, 800, 1000+
I read reviews and see test results against a D200 D90 5D 7D etc but if im honest most of the reviews, especially against nikon vs nikon it looks like they get the test photos round the wrong way lol
So let me know what you think of hte cameras high ISO levels.
Would be really grateful for this.
Cheers

| | | Re: Nikon D300 users Hi Steve,
In my experience (I've had a D300 for a couple of years now) the noise levels only really start to be a problem at ISO 1600 upwards..and I've taken some very useable shots at 1600 as well, although they did require a bit of post processing. At 400 and 800 it's not very noticeable at all
These were all taken at ISO 1600, just for interest:
Hope that helps! |

| | | Re: Nikon D300 users I agree, if you use your photo's for full screen laptop size i have found up to 1250 there is virtually no noise.I use the d300s but i beleive the iso results are the same as the d300. |

Thanks very much for that. The noise levels look really good in the backgrounds and dark areas from what i can see.
What lens did you use?
Cheers

Thats good to hear, thanks mate. |

| | | Re: Nikon D300 users Hi there,
I've had a D300 for 2 1/2 years and often use it at ISO 800 and find it's good at handling noise. I have plenty of shots on my site that are ISO 640 - 800 (shooting info is at bottom of each image once enlarged). I do often use some noise reduction on them too though. If you check the first line of images on Bird Gallery 1 - they are all ISO 640.
Although noise handling is good, I always prefer decent light to keep the ISO at 400 or lower simply because you will record more detail in your shots that way.

| | | Re: Nikon D300 users For me, my shots with my D300 at 800 are about the same as my D200 at 400, usually..I shoot almost totally with the D300, LOVE this camera, if really low light, I switch to my second camera, my D700..and believe everything good you read about this one noise wise,
