| | | sigma 150-500mm & nikon 300mf4 hi
after a lot of thought i am undecideded between these 2 lenses as i could probably get the nikon second hand for a similar price as a new sigma what i would like to know is, are there any members who use either of these lens whose photos i could look at in the Gallery to help me choose (or more likely confuse me)
thanks

| | | Re: sigma 150-500mm & nikon 300mf4 I went for the Sigma 150-500 and have had it now for close on three years, I almost always use it hand held, here's an example of the shots I'm getting.
If you go to my Gallery and check on the images there 90% of the bird photo's are taken with this lens. |

Wish mine worked just as good on my Canon 7D then I could of saved some cash. Now useing it as a door stop. Not one year old yet. |

I've seen many people happily using it on canon systems, 7D included.
Fantastic value lens, the 150-500. |

| | | Re: sigma 150-500mm & nikon 300mf4 In either case, if you want to go upto 500 mm you will have some limitations on light levels, etc.
Will you lose auto focus with the 300 plus a converter? I don't know about that lens.
If you want the full range of a zoom then obviously the Sigma would be better but if just using 300 mm or 450 mm approx with a converter would suit you then either is suitable.
I use the 150-500 and find it is a good lens providing you shoot around the F8 or F11 aperture range. The stabilisation works well if you have to hand hold. |

Ive been lucky to have been able to make comparisions with the lenses above, for me the Nikon 300mm f4 (with or without the 1.4 tc has proved to be the best for me) but Im sure the sigma may suit others..so its all to do with choices, as is any facet of photgraphy..
