| | | Re: First shots with 7D Yes, I should of known as Dai let me try it on my 7D. Nearly bought one. But decided on the 400 f5.6 instead. By the looks of those images, that lens is Equal to mine. |

| | | Re: First shots with 7D Fabulous Dai and well done for going straight out and getting fantastic shots. I can't remember who but someone else has put the 100-400 on a 7D and getting far better results with it than I did on the 40D. OK that might sound obvious - 7D has more pixels among other things but I'm now thinking about getting my 100-400 out and giving it a try. And yes it does look as tho its now in contention with the 400 5.6 prime ........ interesting - I wouldn't mind doing a bit of testing of these two now ......... all I need is to stop having to deal with probs at home and get out with the camera but thats a different story!!
However - again - well done Dai and welcome to the '7D Club' - this is going to revolutionise your photography And I've just nipped off with your starling shot and sharpened it just slightly once for curiosity and its come out even better - so you still have room for a tad more sharpening on the 7D images - and actually this is one of the things I have struggled with on mine and I have mucked about and changed the camera settings up and down and now settled for in the middle-ish for many of the extra settings - time will telll now whether I keep at that or fiddle a bit more!!!

| | | Re: First shots with 7D Thanks all for your comments. I pretty much new what settings and custom functions I wanted. I also realised that any mistakes you make (like too slow a shutter speed) is amplified on the 7D. When it comes to sharpening I now sharpen the image and then duplicate the layer, sharpen again and either use opacity or layer mask to adjust to suit.

| | | Re: First shots with 7D Excellent shots Dai.
I just love my 7D. I intended to carry on using my 40D to save changing lenses but the 7D is such an improvement I doubt I will.
One word to anyone new, make sure you click on the image to see the larger version. Our site software dulls down larger upload images when it resizes them to screen size. The full size version of these show much more detail, colour, saturation; you name it they just look so much better!
