| | | d90 & 300f4+ 1.4 tc hi all
i am looking to upgrade from my d70 70-300mm tamron in a month or 2 and thinking of getting this set up 2nd hand do you think thiswould be a better option than just buying a new 150-500mm sigma and a d3100 |

as usual a lot depends on what you want to achieve and your budget. however:
d3100 looks like a very good camera but it is still an entry level dslr. there will be some technical improvements from the d70 because its newer and generally thats the way technology works but i'm not convinced you'll see it as an 'upgrade' in the long run.

if the d3100 lets you get a better lens then don't discount it. my concern was that you had grown out of your d70 and were looking for something more advanced as well as technologically superior. you will get really good iq from the d3100 so don't worry about that. youre probably better off compromising on the body rather than the lens if you have to compromise on anything.
i haven't used the tokina but user reviews are by and large favourable especially for the price. sharp enough up to 300mm then decent up to 400mm at f8 - f11 and faster shutter speeds which, coupled with slow af and hunting means its probably a lens for good light only.
good luck |

| | | Re: d90 & 300f4+ 1.4 tc it isn't so much that i have outgrown my d70 its just that i have had it for 7years now and its starting to play up. so i don't want to spend all my cash on a lens only to have the d70 break down completely | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
