| | | Canon 7D and 5D MKII lockable mode dial Found out today that Canon are offering a modification to the Canon 5D MKII and 7D to make the mode dial lockable. Could be useful as I mainly shoot in AV mode and I have knocked mine a couple of times and sometimes forget to check
No indication of cost but the USA site says $100 so guess it would be roughly the same here. I have sent an e-mail off to try and find out.

| | | Re: Canon 7D and 5D MKII lockable mode dial Interesting. I too have accidentally moved the mode dial and not noticed until after the event, but I'm not sure I would shell out $100 to make allowance for my carelessness. It can be annoying at times, but it makes me think I really must pay more attention to all those dials and numbers before I shoot . Perhaps we could invent some small gadget to hold it in place, although I'm not sure Blue-tak is the answer . |

| | | Re: Canon 7D and 5D MKII lockable mode dial I too have accidentally changed the settings and only noticed after I'd taken a few shots. However I haven't forgotten this happening and since then I have remembered to check all settings before taking any shots.
The thing that strikes me is, that if Canon realise that this is something that can happen, why are they not carrying out the remedial work at their expense. I also wonder if they will now include this arrangement on updated or new models.
We will have to wait and see!

| | | Re: Canon 7D and 5D MKII lockable mode dial The newest model (60D) has this. So it'll likely be in all further canon models. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
