Installing a video nestbox?

I am thinking of investing in a nestbox with camera. I haven't the first clue as to how to do this. Do I need to run cable from the House/monitor, to the nest box (approximately 60 feet away), or are they wireless? I'm assuming, maybe wrongly, that cheaper camera's will yield poor results, picture quality wise. Our local optical shop is offering a box and camera for £70.00. Would this be likely to be, a cheap and not so cheerful set-up, or am I being overly cautious? Thanks for any help - Wizzo

Well Wizzo, we had a camera on a nestbox at the school I recently worked at. It was a cheap set up, and filmed in B and W but it was brilliant. Great detail (blue tits used the nest) Camera sited in top of the box facing down. It was run into the back of an old tv which had the channel permanently tuned to the camera. I think this set up cost the school around £50 and it had sound too!

Hubby says you can get wireless, easy to set up and not too dear. I hope this helps a bit, hubby is a techy so if you get one and get stuck msg me and I'll get him to help. Good Luck.

Ah great! thanks Sparkle! Yes please, get hubby to stand by with his tech head on.... I may well need his advice! I went out and bought the camera (with a free nest box) today. I probably wont get to put it up untill sunday, but I can't wait. Thanks a million - Wizzo
