| | | Camera and lens Waterproof Cover Hi All,
I am planning a visit up to the Isle of Mull at the end of the month and hearing from Autumnwatch that it rains around 280 days of the year i think i am going to need some waterproofs for my camera and lens so i don't brake them. I am wondering if anyone can recommend some gear they have used or that they know about. I have seen the gear on Wildlife Watching Supplies website and they seem to have some decent stuff. Any links for some webpages or products would be very helpful? Anymore information please ask.
Thank you.
Regards,
Sam Winslow. |

| | | Re: Camera and lens Waterproof Cover Hi Sam,
A few products that come to mind are:
Kata Elements Cover - not used one but their camcorder covers work well
ThinkTank Hydrophobia - again, not used one but their bags are quality
Wildlife Watching Supplies - good range of products at decent prices
Black bin liner and elastic bands - cheap and cheerful
Cheers,

| | | Re: Camera and lens Waterproof Cover I'd go for the bin liner (or even cling film?) option and save your money.

| | | Re: Camera and lens Waterproof Cover In some camera shops there are clear plastic covers shaped to fit your camera and wrist in, with elastic at each end. They look like the are only designed for one use and cost about a fiver. The ones I've seen have different lengths for different lenses. |

| | | Re: Camera and lens Waterproof Cover I've used OP/TECH's rainsleeves but found them a little tight for getting my hand inside with the camera (Nikon D300 with battery grip). Having said that they do come in different sizes so maybe I bought the wrong one.
My vote is for a supermarket carrier bag with an elastic band.

| | Re: Camera and lens Waterproof Cover Hi
Its a modified leg of a pair of gortex camo waterproof trousers for me !
The elasticised foot end goes round the lens hood and you just need to cut a small square for the tripod mount and cut the length to suit ! You even get a spare !
For a temporary one I have used polythene medical sleeves in clear or green.
Cheers
