| | | Lens effecting camera body!? Hi all,
i am looking at buying a secondhand canon 1D mk1 and it only has a 4.48 mega pixle sensor. so what i wanted to know was... do i need expensive lesnes to make quality pictures as i wont be spending £1000's on lenses. Or will the camera still produce good quality photo's with lenses around £200?
thanks,
Will |

| | | Re: Lens effecting camera body!? Hi Will! The camera you mention is well capable of producing great pictures. Pixels are only one factor in enabling good quality images/prints. Unless you're planning on huge enlargments, 4.5 pixels is fine. The lens that you choose will have a greater bearing on image quality, however, don't get too hung up on spending vast amounts of money, in the belief that you'll automatically become a great photographer. Composition, light and an eye for the unusual are by far the most important factors in producing great pictures. Think about second hand lenses too. Also, what kind of photography are you most interested in? One of the worlds greatest photographers, famously used, only 50mm prime lenses and relied on his vision to create great shots. The Canon is well made, with an acurate meter and is reliable. Buy what you can afford and go make the pictures happen. Good luck and keep us informed Will. Wizzo

| | | Re: Lens effecting camera body!? Hi again Will. It sounds like a good wide angle/standard prime lens, would suit you fine. Telephoto's do have their place when shooting landscapes but you can always get one later if you need it. You can pick up a high quality 28mm or 35mm f2.8 lens for reletively little money, and the potential for getting very high quality images, with the D1, is definately a possibility! Good luck Will.
