Canon 7D focus

Hi Guys.

Have been pondering, over getting a 7D for months.
Went and bought one yesterday.

The auto focusing is quite something.

Something that I am having problems with.

Knowing what setup is best for in flight bird shots.

Could any kind sole, kindly give me a pointer as to the best set up? Please.

Manual select. Spot AF

Manual select. Single point AF ?

Man Select.AF point selection ?

Manual select Zone AF ?

Also I note that the focal point, doesnt light up red when focused, as does my 50D. Is this right, or have I not set my camera up properly.

I think I have a lot to learn about this camera!

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gaza, for in flight shots I tend to always use manual select. Single point AF, thinking about it, I tend not to use anything else really, this seems to cover everything near enough.
I will use manual select. Spot AF for in flight dragonflies though. I did experiment with AF point expansion but still find myself going back to the single point.
Yeh focal point doesn't light up red when focused, either that or we've both not set up our cameras correctly
